About Us
We are a non-profit organisation with the aim to bring an end to the abuse and neglect of small exotic monkeys caused by a lack of general public awareness and the prolific increase in the keeping, breeding and trading of exotic animals for the predominantly ignorant and unlegislated pet industry. In order to accomplish this our focus is on educational awareness, specialised care and emergency rescue.
"When we learn to respect all life, we learn to love all life."

The Founder

Wayne Macleod
From an early age Wayne Macleod developed a deep fascination for exotic monkeys and later went on to study them in their natural habitat in the Amazon. After noticing the severe shortage of primatologists in South Africa, Wayne established the Marmoset Care Centre in 1992 which later become WPS Care and Rescue (World Primate Sanctuary Care and Rescue) in 2001. Wayne has dedicated his life to rescuing and caring for these animals.
Through World Primate Sanctuary, Wayne and his team fight abuse and negligence of these exotic animals by spreading awareness through education and outreach programs and by providing care for rescued monkeys.
